Who, or what, is Triple16?

Online marketing for my landscaping company started as a question: “Can I do this?” It quickly became something I really loved. Now I am here to share what I know. I hope your business benefits, even if you never love it like I do!

I try to tell a lot about myself in my posts, and if you have read this one you know my marketing story. Here is a little more about my history in landscaping (and life):

Landscaping is in my blood. Grandpa took early retirement from Honeywell and started Bowen's Inc in Phoenix, AZ. He figured that at least a few of his 8 boys would be cheap labor.

My dad and three of his brothers eventually took over. I remember working for them as a teenager. At 5am we would be at it, trying to get some work done before the summer heat really got going.

When I was 17 my dad left the family business and moved us all to Portland, OR. He worked for Kurisu International for a couple years before starting his own business again. During this time period I started my own solo landscape maintenance business. With my old Ford and a homeowner lawn mower, a rake, and a broom I serviced about 35 properties.

Me and my dad.

Me and my dad.

In my early 20's I sold my accounts to a buddy and moved to Brooklyn, NY. I lived in the area for about 5 years, working for a stone mason, waiting tables, and eventually marrying the prettiest girl I had ever known.

In 2003 we moved back to Portland, where I joined my dad at Ross NW Watergardens. Working with my dad has been great. We get along very well and our relative strengths are complementary. “Laborer” was my first job description. Now I am our landscape designer, salesman, marketer, and I also run our maintenance division.

I am incredibly grateful for the training, help, patience, and now trust extended by my dad. Landscaping is a field I really enjoy. I love it enough to work all day on a client's yard then do a little work at my own house too.

But you know what I love most about it?

It lets me care for my family. I have a wife (still the most beautiful woman I know) and 4 (they aren't bad looking either) kids. Providing for their needs and wants, spending time with them, being a good dad; landscaping helps me with all of these.

I hope that your lawn care or landscaping business can help you do the same thing. Having a 24/7 salesman (your website) certainly helps. Let's work together to get it right for you and your family.
